How did you get into or hear about PHP?

I started a job in the valley doing perl/cgi and one of the developers was all so using php. But the company wouldn't move it as a main stream becuase they couldn't find enough developers.

merge with MySQL group
since many people write in PHP for MySQL this would save having 2 meetings on very often similar topics with the same people
